A Spring Garden Party Wedding at The Farm at Ridgeway: Megan & Josh

A wedding at The Farm at Ridgeway is a beautiful setting for a love story, but Megan and Josh’s May wedding was about so much more than a beautiful venue. It was a joyful spring garden party filled with colorful flowers, meaningful family traditions, heartfelt prayer, and a shared faith that was woven into every part of their celebration.

As a wedding planner, I love seeing couples create a day that reflects not only their personal style but also the values and relationships that mean the most to them. Megan and Josh did exactly that. From their Christ-centered ceremony to the thoughtful details at their reception, every part of their wedding felt personal, intentional, and full of love.

A Love Story That Brought Two Families Together

Megan and Josh’s story began in Texas, where Megan had moved from South Carolina to pursue her college dreams through dance. Rather than living in a traditional dorm, she chose to live with a local host family who opened their home and hearts to her. As it turned out, that family was Josh’s aunt and uncle, along with several of his cousins!

Josh’s family was close-knit, and Megan quickly became part of their family gatherings. Somewhere along the way, her connection with the family blossomed into a love story of her own with Josh.

After three years in Texas, Megan returned to South Carolina, while Josh continued his accounting studies in Texas. The distance didn't stop their relationship from growing, and their wedding day marked the beginning of their next chapter together.

The Farm at Ridgeway was a natural choice for their celebration. The beautiful chapel offered a lovely setting for their ceremony, while the rustic barn was the perfect backdrop for the vibrant garden party Megan envisioned.

A Beautiful Spring Morning and a Sacred Ceremony

The day began with a cool South Carolina spring morning that gradually warmed into a beautiful May day. Sunshine, a few passing clouds, and plenty of anticipation set the scene for a celebration that felt welcoming, joyful, and deeply meaningful.

One of the sweetest things about this wedding was how evident the love between these families was from the very beginning. Even that morning, the groom’s mother took time to check on our Grace Filled Events team and pray over us. It was such a thoughtful gesture and a beautiful reminder that the care and faith surrounding this couple extended well beyond the ceremony itself.

Megan looked stunning in a gown that blended old-world romance with modern elegance. Its strapless sweetheart neckline, structured bodice, elongated basque waist, and flowing cathedral train created a timeless silhouette. A sheer tulle veil completed her look beautifully. Josh wore a navy suit with a blue floral tie, while the bridesmaids wore blue-and-white floral sundresses that brought a fresh, garden-inspired feel to the day.

But the most beautiful part of their ceremony wasn't simply what everyone wore or how the chapel looked. It was the heart behind it all.

Hymns filled the chapel with worship. Their parents gathered around Megan and Josh to lay hands on them and pray over their marriage, while others in the congregation lifted their hands in prayer, too. Then, as their first act of worship together as husband and wife, Megan and Josh shared communion.

It was a sacred, intentional beginning to their marriage, surrounded by the people who had helped shape their lives and faith.

A Colorful Garden Party Reception

Following the ceremony, guests gathered for cocktail hour, while the bridal party and extended family gathered for photos, before celebrating together in the barn.

Megan envisioned a vibrant spring garden party, and we loved helping bring that vision to life. Colorful wildflowers in assorted bud vases brightened the tables, while white Chiavari chairs kept the space feeling light and airy. Dusty-blue cloth napkins tied the design together, and gold chargers, lanterns, and candlesticks added an elegant touch without competing with the flowers.

At Grace Filled Events, we provided the reception table decor and florals, along with the chapel florals, carrying the couple’s vision throughout both spaces.

Megan’s bouquet featured cheerful field flowers, including white English daisies, yellow chamomile, and Canterbury bells. The bridesmaids carried arm-style arrangements of calla lilies, Queen Anne’s lace, and mixed greenery. Even the bridal party’s attire complemented the garden-inspired palette without making the overall design feel overly coordinated or formal.

And then came the personal touches!

Megan wanted to bring a little piece of South Carolina to the celebration, so boiled peanuts were served during cocktail hour. Josh, along with his brothers and cousins, shares a love of milk and cookies, making those a fun late-night treat. These weren't simply menu choices; they were little reminders of home, family, and the things that make each of them who they are.

When the Wedding Cake Needed a Little Grace

One of the most important parts of wedding coordination happens behind the scenes, especially when something unexpected threatens to interrupt the celebration.

While Sara was checking the reception space, she noticed that the wedding cake was beginning to lean—and might not survive until the scheduled cake cutting later in the evening.

We needed a solution, and we needed it quickly.

Rather than adding stress to the day, we calmly adjusted the reception timeline. After the bridal party entrance and Megan’s dad giving the welcome and blessing over dinner, we moved the cake cutting ahead of dinner service. I coordinated the change with the DJ, photographer, mother of the bride, and family member who would be cutting and serving the cake.

When I explained the adjustment to Megan and Josh, they didn't question the change or ask for an explanation. They simply trusted us and said, “Okay.”

The cake was served before dinner, nearly the entire cake was enjoyed, and the celebration continued without unnecessary worry. Crisis averted!

That moment is exactly why I believe wedding coordination is about so much more than timelines and pretty details. It's about building trust throughout the planning process so that, when the unexpected happens, your planner can make thoughtful decisions on your behalf while you remain present for the moments that matter.

A Day Filled With Faith, Family, and Meaningful Moments

From the morning preparations to the final celebrations, Megan and Josh’s wedding was filled with reminders of how deeply their families love them. And if there is one thing I will always remember about this day, it is the tears. Not tears of sadness or stress, but the sweetest, happiest tears—the kind that come when your heart is simply too full to hold everything you feel.

Josh shed tears throughout the ceremony, and Megan’s emotions came pouring out during the speeches and her father-daughter dance. Her mom was moved to tears when Megan honored her by giving her bridal bouquet to her. During the getting-ready moments and their mother-son dance, Josh and his mom shared their own tender tears. Everywhere you looked, there seemed to be another beautiful moment of someone feeling the depth of what this day meant.

And it wasn't just the family! Even those of us working behind the scenes found ourselves caught up in the emotion. From the DJ to the photographer to Sara and me, we were all shedding a few happy tears of our own. There was something so special about the gentle, loving spirit of everyone present. The joy was contagious, the love was genuine, and the tenderness of the day reached far beyond the couple themselves. As wedding professionals, we are honored to witness so many meaningful moments, but every now and then, a wedding touches your heart in a way that stays with you long after the last song plays.

That love showed up in so many other ways, too: the groom’s mother praying over our Grace Filled Events team that morning, the parents surrounding the couple in prayer during the ceremony, and the family photographs honoring loved ones who could no longer be there in person alongside those who were present to celebrate. Those photographs were especially tender, bringing generations and memories together in a way that made the day feel even more personal.

Megan’s relationship with her sister, Becca, was another beautiful thread woven throughout the celebration. Although years apart in age, the two share such a close bond that they are often mistaken for twins. Their connection was evident from the very beginning of the day, in the little moments they shared and in the way they supported one another. It was just as evident during the reception when Becca gave her matron of honor speech, sharing in the joy of this new chapter while celebrating the sister she knows so well.

There was also a bittersweet side to the day. Megan’s family knew she would soon be returning to Texas, this time to begin her married life with Josh. Their joy was accompanied by the natural sadness of knowing they would miss having her close by. That mix of emotions is one of the things that makes weddings so special: they celebrate what is beginning while honoring the relationships and memories that brought everyone to this moment.

Even the care extended to our team reflected the spirit of the day. Being checked on, encouraged, and prayed for by the groom’s mother was a meaningful reminder that serving others is a gift—and one we never take for granted.
