A Christ-Centered Church Wedding Filled with Tradition, Family, and Rustic Charm  | Sarah & Chandler

This church wedding in Blair, South Carolina, was the kind of day that quietly lingers in your heart long after the celebration ends—and as Sarah and Chandler recently celebrated their first anniversary, it feels especially meaningful to reflect on a wedding so deeply rooted in faith, family, tradition, and intentional love.

As a Columbia SC wedding planner, I have the privilege of witnessing many beautiful celebrations. But every now and then, there is a wedding day that feels especially sacred. Sarah and Chandler’s day was one of those rare celebrations where every detail pointed back to what mattered most: honoring the Lord, cherishing family, and beginning marriage surrounded by a deeply rooted community who loved them well.

A Love Story Rooted in Faith and Family

Sarah and Chandler’s story began exactly where their wedding day would later unfold—at church. After Chandler’s family began attending Sarah’s home church, a friendship slowly began to grow. Encouraged by Chandler’s mom, he offered to help Sarah on her family’s beef cattle farm, and what began as simple acts of service eventually became a forever love story.

Today, they continue building that life together, working side by side on Sarah’s family farm and serving customers at local markets with their beef products. Their relationship reflects partnership, purpose, hard work, and faithfulness—qualities that carried beautifully into their wedding day.

Choosing a church wedding at Salem Presbyterian Church was never just about selecting a ceremony location. This church is home. Sarah’s family has worshipped there for generations, and the pastor who officiated their ceremony has known her family for more than 40 years. The depth of history and connection within those walls made the entire day feel incredibly personal and meaningful.

A Peaceful Spring Morning

The morning of the wedding was everything a South Carolina spring day should be—sunny, warm, and filled with a quiet sense of joy. There was a calmness that settled over the entire day, allowing Sarah and Chandler, along with their families, to truly be present.

Behind the scenes, however, there was much to be done. Spring in South Carolina brought its own challenges—the wind and pollen certainly tried to make their presence known. But we were determined not to let anything distract from what mattered most.

Our team worked diligently throughout the morning, adjusting details, protecting décor, and staying one step ahead so that nothing would interrupt the experience. Every decision was made with intention, ensuring that Sarah and Chandler—and their families—never felt the weight of those challenges.

Instead, they were able to simply enjoy the day.

There was no rush, no pressure—just space to breathe, reflect, and prepare for what was to come. These are the kinds of mornings I am always intentional about creating. Because when a timeline is thoughtfully built, and a team is fully present behind the scenes, it allows couples to step fully into the meaning of their day instead of feeling like they’re chasing it.

One especially meaningful moment before the ceremony at the church was when Sarah and five of her seven bridesmaids gathered together to show off their Clemson University class rings for a photo—a sweet reflection of the deep friendship, shared memories, and lasting bond they had built together over the years. It also brought such a sweet sense of camaraderie for all of us Tiger fans present whose “blood runs orange.” Even more meaningful, Sarah’s mom and siblings are also Clemson graduates, making Clemson a special thread woven throughout their family story and friendships. It was one of those joyful little moments that added even more personality and connection to the day.

Vintage Elegance with Rustic Charm

Every detail of this wedding beautifully reflected Sarah and Chandler’s personalities and the life they are building together.

The color palette of chianti, navy, and soft gold accents created a timeless spring atmosphere filled with warmth and understated elegance. The rich chianti tone—a luxurious, warm red-purple, along with the peach garden roses in the bouquets—felt especially fitting for this celebration, beautifully complementing both the rustic setting and the sweet Clemson connections woven throughout the day.

Sarah wore a stunning vintage-inspired off-the-shoulder gown with intricate lace appliqués and flowing bishop sleeves that added such softness and grace to her bridal look. Her classic fingertip veil completed the timeless feel perfectly.

Her bridesmaids wore matching chianti-colored gowns that brought such a cohesive and elegant look to the bridal party, while the junior bridesmaids wore floral print dresses that added a charming touch of whimsy and sweetness.

And because this couple is truly country at heart, the bridal party proudly paired their formal attire with cowboy boots—adding personality, authenticity, and rustic charm throughout the day.

Some of the most meaningful details were the deeply personal touches woven throughout:

  • Chandler wore one of Sarah’s late father’s ties during the ceremony

  • His leather belt, a wedding gift from Sarah, was custom engraved with their names and wedding date

  • Sarah’s bouquet featured a gorgeous leather wrap that beautifully reflected their farm life and rustic style

Every detail told a story.

A Ceremony Filled with Tradition and Meaning

Held at Salem Presbyterian Church, this church wedding felt like stepping back into a simpler, more sacred time.

Traditional hymns filled the sanctuary as the congregation joined together in worship, creating a ceremony atmosphere that felt deeply reverent and personal. Even the processional music featured beloved hymn arrangements, adding another layer of meaning to the service.

Their pastor shared a powerful message about marriage—one rooted not simply in romance, but in covenant, commitment, sacrifice, and faithfulness. His words carried such wisdom and intentionality, and you could feel the weight of them settling over the room. It was a beautiful reminder that marriage is not just a celebration for one day, but a lifelong calling built on Christ.

And as the ceremony came to a close, the sound of bagpipes filled the air—honoring Chandler’s Scottish heritage as they recessed from the church as husband and wife. It was joyful, emotional, and unforgettable.

A Reception Full of History, Joy, and Celebration

The celebration continued at the historic Feasterville Boarding House, a place filled with rustic charm and rich Fairfield County history.

One of my favorite details was the custom wood cake stand handcrafted by my brother-in-law, adding such a warm and meaningful touch to the reception design. My husband also had the privilege of contributing by smoking briskets sourced directly from Sarah and Chandler’s family farm—a beautiful way to honor their life and work together.

Even with the windy conditions and the ceremony and reception venues only about 10 minutes apart, our team worked closely with every vendor to ensure the entire day flowed smoothly and seamlessly.

As the evening unfolded, the reception quickly turned into a night full of dancing, laughter, joyful reunions, and meaningful connection. Guests filled the dance floor while others gathered around tables sharing stories, enjoying incredible food, and celebrating this sweet couple so wholeheartedly.

And of course, one of the highlights of the evening was the packed photo booth, where guests of all generations spent the night laughing, celebrating, and creating joyful memories together. From grandparents smiling alongside grandchildren to groups of friends squeezing into the frame with fun, “acrobatic” poses and endless laughter, the photo booth quickly became a gathering place throughout the reception. It was such a beautiful reflection of the joy, connection, and genuine community that surrounded Sarah and Chandler on their wedding day.
