A Winter Wonderland Wedding at The Farm at Ridgeway | Shawna & Brian
This wedding at The Farm at Ridgeway was the perfect blend of winter wonderland charm, intentional details, and heartfelt family legacy—creating a celebration that was as beautiful as it was meaningful.
As a wedding planner, I have the privilege of witnessing so many love stories, but Shawna and Brian's wedding was one I'll always remember. Held on the last day of fall, just one day before winter officially arrived, their celebration embraced everything they love about the season while honoring the people—and even the pets—that mean the most to them.

A Love Story That Began During Uncertain Times
Shawna and Brian met just before the world shut down in 2020. While that season brought uncertainty for so many, it gave them the unexpected gift of time together. Through those months, they learned more about one another, built a strong foundation of friendship, and discovered the kind of love that would eventually lead them to this special day.
From the moment I met them, it was easy to see that they genuinely enjoy being together. Their relationship is marked by kindness, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the people they love.
A Chilly December Morning at The Farm at Ridgeway
The wedding day arrived with a crisp South Carolina winter chill. The morning began at just 32 degrees before warming to a high of 59, creating the perfect atmosphere for a cozy winter celebration.
Guests arrived at The Farm at Ridgeway to find an elegant winter wonderland waiting for them. Emerald green served as the signature color throughout the day, bringing rich seasonal elegance to every detail. The bridesmaids wore stunning emerald satin gowns in a variety of styles, while the gentlemen looked classic in black suits with deep emerald ties. Brian stood apart in a sophisticated bow tie, adding a timeless touch to his wedding-day look.
Shawna was breathtaking in a romantic strapless A-line gown featuring a floral lace bodice, dramatic cathedral-length veil, and delicate lace sleeves that added both elegance and winter charm.

Sweet Family Moments Before "I Do"
One of the most memorable parts of the day happened before the ceremony even began.
Shawna shared not one, but two emotional first looks—one with her father and another with her brother. These sweet moments allowed them to slow down, soak in the significance of the day, and create memories they'll cherish forever.
The atmosphere throughout the morning was joyful and relaxed. Everyone seemed fully present, anticipating the celebration ahead.

Flower Grannies and Family Legacy
If there was one detail that perfectly captured the heart of this wedding, it was Shawna's flower girls.
Or perhaps I should say “flower grannies.”
At 88 and 90 years young, Shawna's great-aunts, Mary and Margaret, proudly walked down the aisle as flower girls. Their participation was a beautiful tribute to family legacy and a reminder that love spans generations.
There wasn't a dry eye—or a face without a smile—as they made their way down the aisle.

A Winter Wonderland Reception
After the ceremony, guests gathered inside the reception barn for a magical winter-inspired celebration.
Because Shawna and Brian love snow, they had hoped for a rare South Carolina snowfall on their wedding day. While Mother Nature had other plans, their stunning flocked Christmas tree "forest" transformed the barn into the winter wonderland they envisioned.
Twinkling lights reflected off the flocked branches, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that perfectly complemented the rustic beauty of the venue.
Another favorite detail was their all-white vintage-inspired wedding cake. Complete with elegant piping, swags, and pearl accents, the cake was a showstopper. The sweetest touch, however, was the inclusion of their beloved fur babies—two dogs and a cat—beautifully represented as part of the design.

Bringing Peace to the Planning Process
I was honored to be referred to Shawna and Brian by The Farm at Ridgeway only a few weeks before their wedding day.
After months of planning, Shawna's mother realized she wanted the freedom to simply be present and enjoy the celebration rather than manage the logistics. With just four weeks to go, entering Thanksgiving week and the Christmas season, our team quickly stepped in.
We coordinated meetings, connected with every wedding professional involved, built a comprehensive master timeline, and ensured every detail was accounted for. We also secured additional teardown assistance at the end of the evening, which proved invaluable when it came time to carefully dismantle the beautiful Christmas tree forest.
Watching Shawna, Brian, and their families fully enjoy the day without stress was exactly why I love what I do.
